How is it administrating your own instance

Don't know what you meant by administrating, but as a consequence of the d.s war i was given credentials to their server.

Pretty much the only things i've done to it were creating backups and pushing a software update i've made myself.

You basically have a text-only shell (think DOS command prompt, except using linux), and perform actions by typing in commands for those actions. Mistyping a command means an error message at best and unrecoverable data loss at worst.

Note this is only a part of the duties of running an instance - some other parts i wasn't involved with include user approval/moderation/management, making sure bills for the domain name and server are paid off in a non-doxxy way and on time, and server resources management.
